The Churches Conservation Foundation are excited to launch a grant scheme for young craftspeople with an interest in the conservation of religious heritage. Thanks to a generous donation from the Foundation’s Trustees, awards of between £500 and £1,000 will be granted to two young craftspeople who wish to travel to increase their knowledge and skills.
The grant will cover the following:
- Attendance at conferences or seminars
- Study tours
- Short-term internships
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be under 30 years of age on April 1st 2017
- Be training in relevant craft or traditional building skill, or recently qualified in one
- Have a demonstrable and ongoing commitment to religious built heritage through a track record of relevant volunteering and/or study
- Be prepared to disseminate themselves and what they learn through social media and also to provide photographs and a short report to the Trustees, which may be published in various media by the Foundation

The future of our historic religious buildings depends on the passion and talents of younger generations, so it is my generation’s responsibility to nurture and develop this passion where we can. This is why we are excited to offer this grant to young people pursuing careers in religious heritage conservation.
