Icon Hosts Industrial Heritage Accreditation Workshop at Imperial War Museum, Duxford

Icon is excited to announce a free workshop for industrial conservators, held at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford. As the UK’s industrial conservation sector faces a skills gap, with many experienced professionals nearing retirement, the need to train and accredit new conservators is critical.

Thanks to Heritage Compass funding, this free event aims to support conservators interested in pursuing Icon accreditation. Participants will receive practical guidance on the accreditation process, understand its benefits, and explore how it can enhance both personal careers and organizational standards.

Led by Peter Meehan ACR, from the Historic Metalwork Conservation Company, and Heather Doyle, Icon’s Accreditation Manager, the workshop will feature real-world case studies, insights into industrial conservation projects, and discussions on meeting Icon’s assessment criteria. Attendees will also have the opportunity to address the unique challenges of the field and participate in a Q&A session.

If you work in industrial conservation and are considering accreditation, this is the perfect opportunity to get started. Join us at IWM Duxford and help secure the future of the sector!
