The Gabo Trust supports and promotes the conservation of modern and contemporary sculpture internationally, through grants to professional conservators, post-graduate students of sculpture conservation, museums, galleries and other public collections.
We aim to ensure that expertise and facilities in this field continue to develop and improve. Most grants awarded to individual conservators are under £5,000. All applications must be relevant to modern and contemporary sculpture.
Apart from exceptional cases, the Gabo Trust does not award full funding: an applicant’s employer is expected to make a contribution, and freelance conservators should seek additional financial assistance from other sources.
The Trust awards grants for continuing professional development; travel to attend conferences; research; conservation surveys of relevant sculpture collections; and funding towards equipment for care and safe storage.
