The York Foundation for Conservation & Craftsmanship, provides annual bursaries to assist the training and development of craftspeople and conservators and to encourage existing experts to take on new apprentices.
To date, and from small beginnings, we have made nearly 250 bursary awards to talented and committed individuals working across a large number of heritage specialisms. By tracking the careers of the people we have supported we know that our bursary programme has made a huge difference in encouraging people to take what is often a difficult step in funding the development of their own skills. In addition, the bursaries provide a valuable boost to confidence, recognition of ability and access to new professional networks.
