The York Foundation for Conservation & Craftsmanship, provides annual bursaries to assist the training of craftspeople and conservators and to part finance the training of new apprentices. From the year 2000 the foundations bursary scheme has had the privilege of supporting applications from a wide variety of disciplines both from traditional craft and conservation. Facilitating access to specialist training and professional development that is difficult to acquire without financial support.
In 2020, as in previous years, the York Consortium for Conservation & Craftsmanship’s charitable foundation will be inviting applications, offering up to £3,000 to assist with taking on an apprentice and up to £1,500 for personal skills development. In addition, many people have been supported with smaller sums that have gone towards activities like participating in stone-carving festivals, attending short courses and equipping training workbenches. Our bursary scheme strives to cover a very broad range of activities within heritage crafts and each year the trustees consider applications for things that the foundation has never supported before.
For those interested, we are currently accepting applications up to the 31st of March 2020. Further information and the necessary forms can be downloaded from the York Consortium for Conservation and Craftsmanship website, with further inquiries directed to Tracy Wilcockson at [email protected]
